PENANG: It was a bright and sunny day, perfect for a day out on the beach. But yesterday, the popular picnic spot at Miami Beach in Batu Ferringhi was deserted except for a few people and religious groups who had come to offer prayers for victims of the tsunami on Dec 26.
The place known for its stretch of golden sand, deep blue sea and cool sea breeze used to be visited by hundreds if not thousands of picnickers from near and far especially during school holidays and weekends.
