Prizes galore at Starwalk 2004

PETALING JAYA: Cold hard cash, bags of freebies and attractive lucky draw prizes await Starwalk 2004 participants in Penang today, thanks to contributions from major sponsors Diethelm Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Panasonic Malaysia Sdn Bhd, radio station and Nestle Products Sdn Bhd. 

Diethlem’s RM20,000 sponsorship comprises RM5,000 cash, 1,900 units of Tiger Balm worth RM3,000 and 2,000 Starwalk T-shirts. 

Visitors and participants will also enjoy a 50% discount and a free warm-up massage, when they buy Diethelm’s Tiger Muscle Rub at the event. 

Starwalk is a fun and exciting activity that should be enjoyed by all participants without being hindered by muscle pains and sprains,” said Diethelm's product manager Maggie Tay. 

Participants will also have a chance to win electrical and electronic products worth RM20,000 sponsored by Panasonic in the lucky draw. 

The prizes include a rice cooker, fax machine, mini-hifi, digital camera, microwave oven and a 29-inch colour television set complete with a DVD home theatre system. 

“Through our products, we want to change and improve the lifestyle of Malaysians,” said Panasonic corporate communications associate director Shahar Noor.

For those who are musically inclined, they should look out for two Prado cruisers, that will be distributing music CDs, vouchers and drinks. 

Airtime Management & Programming Sdn Bhd Marketing and Promotions manager Jason Khoo said the station's contribution of RM35,000, included RM11,000 in T-shirts and airtime cross-overs at the starting and finish line.  

Nestle’s RM30,000 sponsorship not only includes free cups of Milo but also cash prizes and T-shirts. 

Its beverage division sports marketing manager Ng Ping Loong said: “We have been sponsoring the event since it was first held and we want to thank The Star for giving us the chance to be part of it every year.” 

Starwalk 2004 is jointly organised by Star Publications (M) Bhd and the Penang Amateur Athletics Association. 

The Penang Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas will flag off participants at the Penang International Sports Arena in Relau. 

Other sponsors include Lion Suzuki, Sunquick, DiGi and 100 Plus Power.
