THE target for Malaysia to have a population of 70 million by 2100 is no longer a priority as the Government is now placing more emphasis on quality citizens and a caring society, the Dewan Negara was told.
Parliamentary-secretary to the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry Chew Mei Fun said it was difficult to achieve the 70 million target within the time frame due to several factors, including the fast declining fertility rate.
