PENANG: The son of a senior police officer is one of two men arrested in connection with the death of a 24-year-old Indonesian woman, who was believed to have been forced to jump from a apartment block in Relau here after she refused to have sex with one of them.

Police initially thought that Endon Wahyumi, a factory worker in Bayan Lepas, had fallen to her death early Wednesday morning, but an interview with her housemate revealed otherwise.

According to her housemate, Endon had earlier refused to have sex with a man in his mid-20s and in a fit of anger he could have either pushed or forced her to jump off the building.

Acting state CID chief Supt Razali Basri said two men, aged 23 and 24, were picked up to help in investigations into the murder, adding that they have been remanded for a week.

“We are presently looking for another man who could help us get to the bottom of the matter,” he said.

In another incident, a 23-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a 15-year-old schoolgirl at a budget hotel in Chulia Street here recently.

Her family found out about their affair when the Form Three student was spotted by her sister wandering in the town area on Tuesday.

She revealed to them that she had sex with the man on three occasions.

A report was lodged at the Patani Road police station on Wednesday and the man was picked up from his house in George Town the same day.

He was remanded yesterday by a magistrate's court. The case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape.
