KUALA LUMPUR: The Immigration Department at Wilayah Complex in Jalan Dang Wangi here was overcrowded yesterday as people took advantage of the Nuzul Quran public holiday in Selangor yesterday to apply for passports and conduct other immigration transactions.
A computer breakdown at the immigration office at Pusat Bandar Damansara here also resulted in customers being directed to Wilayah Complex.
An immigration officer at the Wilayah Complex said the computer failure was detected at the Pusat Bandar Damansara branch at 7.45am and those who wanted their passport applications to be processed quickly were told to go to the Wilayah Complex branch.
She said the Wilayah Complex branch went the extra mile to ensure applications were processed within 24 hours by opening more counters. – Bernama
