PUTRAJAYA: A retired lawyer has won an appeal against a RM1.5mil High Court defamation award to former Health Minister Datuk Chua Jui Meng, and will now have to pay only RM200,000.
Court of Appeal judges Justices Gopal Sri Ram, Abdul Kadir Sulaiman and Nik Hashim Nik Ab Rahman unanimously allowed the appeal by Chin Choon @ Chin Tee Fut who, together with a businessman, was found to have defamed Chua during a press conference on Aug 2, 1994.
