PUTRAJAYA: Homestay programmes can generate some RM2.5mil in income for participating villages and help revive dying cultural practices.
Universiti Teknologi Malaysias Department of Urban Planning Associate Prof Dr Amran Hamzah said the programme at Kampung Desa Murni in Pahang received up to 5,000 tourists in 2000 before it was affected by the SARS outbreak and the Iraq war.
