KUALA LUMPUR: The rebels in Darfur have been violating the ceasefire agreement but the Sudanese government cannot act against them because its hands are tied, claimed a senior official of the country’s ruling party.
National Congress Party deputy secretary-general Mahdi Ibrahim Mohamed said the rebels had breached the deal over 150 times in the past two months but when the government had tried taking action against them, the UN had threatened to impose sanctions.
