Bamboo lanterns still a hit with seniors

IPOH: Wire lanterns depicting cartoon characters may be all the rage among youngsters for this coming Mid-Autumn Festival celebration, but the giant bamboo lanterns from China still hold a fond place in the hearts of the older Chinese. 

The traditional bamboo lantern contains a revolving “pinwheel” featuring cuttings of Chinese folk tale characters propelled around a central axle by the hot air rising from the burning candle.
