BAGAN SERAI: The avian flu virus can now be detected within eight to 12 hours compared with between two and five days, thanks to a new test kit developed by the Ipoh-based Veterinary Research Institute.
Its director, Dr Sharifah Syed Hassan, said the RT-PCR Kit would be distributed to the institute's field laboratories, enabling faster implementation of quarantine measures to check the spread of the virus.
