KUALA LUMPUR: A women's action umbrella group has suggested to the Select Parliamentary Committee, set up to study the Penal Code (Amendment) 2004 Bill and Criminal Procedure Code (Amendment) Bill 2004, to come down hard on sex offenders.

The Joint Action Group of Violence Against Women (JAC VAW), consisting of six women’s organisations told the committee, which is chaired by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Radzi Sheikh Ahmad, that there was a need to redefine rape.
