PETALING JAYA: His passion to know about his ancestors propelled him through 20 years of painstaking research, exploration of graveyards, financial constraints and two heart attacks. 

Shih Toong Siong, now 65, had no hint of the hardships and frustration he was going to face when his curiosity about his Chinese clan, Foochow Christians and their high concentration in Sitiawan started him on his personal journey in 1983 to find his roots.
