IPOH: The state Domestic Trade And Consumer Affairs Department has seized a lorry which had been illegally modified to fill up large quantities of diesel.

The lorry had a fuel tank that could store 4,000 litres of diesel which was illegally sold to factories.

Department director Mohd Khalis Kasim said the lorry also had a pump to transfer the fuel to other vehicles.

The lorry and the tanker containing 507 litres of diesel worth RM400 were seized in a raid on Thursday when the lorry was refuelling at a petrol kiosk in Jalan Kuala Kangsar, he said yesterday.

On another matter, Mohd Khalis said the business licence of a dealer to sell diesel in Simpang Pulai was confiscated on Tuesday when the sales records were not up to date.

The department also arrested a man and seized 22,955 pirated VCDs and DVDs worth RM129,050, during a two-day operation conducted since Wednesday.
