TAPAH: A 61-year-old man was fined RM10,800 and a 48-year-old woman RM9,900 on nine charges each of providing tax agency services without a valid licence.

Magistrate Zulkifli Abllah ordered Kong Pak Lim to pay RM1,200 for each of the charges brought against him.

He paid the fine.

Kong had pleaded guilty to filling up and filing the income tax return forms of Kok See Chong, Hew Lian Huat and Lam Pak Koy for the year 2001 with the Inland Revenue Board (IRB).

He had also pleaded guilty to another six charges for filling up and filing the income tax return forms of the same persons for the years 2002 and 2003 at 82, Kampung Baru Pekan Pasir, Bidor.

Pressing for deterrent sentence, IRB prosecuting officer Norhisham Ahmad told the court that the offences committed were serious as Kong had imposed a service charge without having any qualification.

Chong Lan Ying was ordered to pay RM1,100 for each of the nine charges against her.

She paid the fine.

Chong had pleaded guilty to filling up and filing the income tax return forms of Sow Hai Hong, Lau Keng Leong and Cheong Kwai Wah for the year 2001, 2002 and 2003 at 35, Jalan Besar, Bidor.
