KLANG: On the second and 16th day of each month in the Chinese calendar, a stream of edgy people will visit a 65-year-old man at the Goddess of Mercy temple here and ask him to take a slug at people who were making their lives miserable.

Fong Kam Kuan, however, is not a bouncer. For the past 30 years he has been a tar siew yan exponent, with the authority to “beat the hell out of people” without being booked for assault and battery.
