SEPANG: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) is no longer enforcing the requirement for buses to install tachograph meters as it is carrying out a study to determine if there is better technology to check the speed of buses, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy said.

Admitting that bus operators had also stopped installing the devices – commonly called 'black boxes' like those on an aircraft – Chan said he did not want to speculate whether this meant the compulsory installation programme had been shelved.
