SANDAKAN: Hopes remain high for the safe release of the three East Ocean 2 tugboat crewmen soon after a setback two days ago that saw four Borneo Paradise resort freed by the notorious Abu Sayyaf-linked gunmen instead of them.
Negotiations for the release of Sarawakians Toh Chiu Tiong, 56, and Wong Siu Ung, 52, with Indonesian skipper J.E. Walter Sampel, 53, were kept back by the gunmen on Tawi Tawi island in southern Philippines but were still on.
