IT has been an interesting week. The Dewan had a rare full house on two days – when the MPs were sworn in on Monday and when the Yang di-Pertuan Agong declared the 11th Parliament open the next day.

There were several “firsts”: this was the first time MPs gathered in the gleaming Parliament House after an estimated RM50mil renovation job, new parliamentarians made their debut and Sipitang MP Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob sat as Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker for the first time.
