PETALING JAYA: Vehicle thefts continue to be a major challenge for the general insurance industry with at least 19,600 cases, including more than 7,000 involving private cars, reported to insurance companies last year.
The companies incurred almost RM568mil in motor insurance claims last year, up by 19% over the previous year, with claims for private cars rising by 17.3% to RM489mil.
