PUTRAJAYA: Manufacturers, distributors and retailers who have penetrated into five countries or more will showcase their brands and products at the International Brands Consumer Fair (Ibcof) 2004, the countrys first trade and consumer brand exhibition.
The co-organisers, the MCA Economic Bureau, Small and Medium Industries Association Malaysia and Asia-Pacific Network for Small and Medium Enterprises, hope to attract 150 international brands from 26 countries to the event.
Aimed at launching local brands, the fair would be held at the Mines International Exhibition and Convention Centre in Seri Kembangan, Kuala Lumpur, from Aug 26 to 29.
Bureau chairman Datuk Dr Fong Chan Onn said the event would help in brand creation for Malaysia in line with globalisation.
It will be useful for small and medium enterprises to launch their products and brands into the global market, he said yesterday.
He added that Malaysian manufacturers, distributors and retailers should learn from the experience of Korea whereby its brands like Samsung, KIA and LG have become as popular as some Japanese brands in the last 10 years.
Association president Looi Teong Chye said 300 booths would be put up for the event.
Asia-Africa Chamber of Commerce deputy president, Dr Hae-Jung Jung, would also be involved in Ibcof 2004, he added.
