PUTRAJAYA: From July 1, consumers caught having imitation or smuggled cigarettes can be charged for tax evasion, and risk being fined and jailed a maximum of three years.
Customs Director-General Tan Sri Abdul Halil Abdul Mutalib said the regulation has been in existence for quite some time but was never implemented.
