INTEGRITY PLAN: (April 23) A comprehensive plan to change the “ugly Malaysian” image by promoting a values-based society with a clear sense of morals has been launched, signalling the start of a serious effort to make integrity and honesty a way of life. Saying it was pointless to have a Malaysian society that was rich materially but devoid of moral values, ethics and integrity, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi launched the five-year National Integrity Plan aimed at promoting an accountable and corrupt-free society.

OIC STAND: (April 22) The Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) has called for an immediate end to the violence in the Middle East and will send a delegation to discuss with the international quartet ways to resolve the Palestine-Israel conflict. The quartet, comprising the United Nations, the United States, the European Union and Russia, is involved in working on a “road map” to peace in the region. The decision to meet the quartet was agreed to by all the countries attending the OIC Special Meeting on the Middle East in Kuala Lumpur, and was included in the Declaration on Palestine.
