Najib heads list of Perak awards

IPOH: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak heads the list of 1,199 recipients of state awards in conjunction with the 76th birthday of the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah, today. 

Najib, who is also Defence Minister and Umno vice-president, will receive the Darjah Kebesaran Seri Paduka Sultan Azlan Shah – Perak’s highest state award, which carries the title Datuk Seri Di Raja. 

Army chief Jen Datuk Wira Mohd Azumi Mohamed, Navy chief Laksamana Datuk Seri Mohd Anwar Mohd Nor and Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Mohd Sedek Mohd Ali are the three recipients of the Darjah Seri Panglima Taming Sari, which carries the title Datuk Seri. 

The sole recipient of the Darjah Seri Paduka Mahkota Perak, which carries the title Datuk Seri, is Datuk Seri Dr Zainul Ariff Hussain, the Director-General of the Implementation and Coordination Unit in the Prime Minister’s Department  

Newly appointed state executive councillors Saarani Mohamad (Information and Rural Development Committee) and Siti Salmah Mat Jusak (Women Affairs, Family and Community Development Committee) are among the recipients of the Darjah Datuk Paduka Cura Simanja Kini, which carries the title Datuk. 

Four people will receive the Darjah Datuk Pahlawan Taming Sari, which carries the title Datuk, including Second Infantry Brigade Commander Brig Jen Amiruddin Mahmud Aladad Khan and Bukit Aman Deputy Director of Management (Administration) SAC (I) Mohd Nor Othman. 

Malaysia’s Ambassador to Ghana Muhammad Alias, Deputy Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Kong Cho Ha and International Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Mah Siew Keong are among the 23 people conferred the Darjah Datuk Paduka Mahkota Perak, which carries the title Datuk.  

The other recipients are state assemblyman for Sungkai R. Ganesan, state assemblyman for Teja Dr Ho Wai Cheong, state development director Mohamad Saad, Kerian district officer Basiran Saban, Perak Tengah district officer Kamarul Zaman Abdul Hamid, Ipoh City Council’s legal adviser Abd Rahim Md Ariff and director of Proton City Development Corp Sdn Bhd, Zahri Ab. Ghani. 

Four people will receive the Darjah Paduka Cura Simanja Kini while 37 people, including new Kinta district OCPD acting Asst Comm Ab. Wahab Azizul Hassan, Perak Wanita MCA chief Chew Poh Thoi and Ipoh Hospital director Dr Ziaudin Ahamed Abdul Kareem. 

Nine people, including Kuala Kangsar district OCPD Supt Zainuddin Zainal will receive the Darjah Ahli Cura Simanja Kini. 

Taiping zoo director Dr Kevin Lazarus, RTM newscaster Harjit Singh, Sin Chew Daily Perak area manager Lee Kam Hee and China Press Perak regional manager Liew Nyok Moi are among 256 people awarded the Darjah Ahli Mahkota Perak while nine people are made Justices of Peace. 

National gymnast Ng Shu Wai, national badminton players Choong Tan Fook, Lee Wan Wah and Lee Tsuen Seng, and national athlete Moh Siew Wei are among 376 people who will receive the Pingat Pekerti Terpilih. 

Two journalists are among the 458 people to be conferred the Pingat Jasa Kebaktian and they are Jalal Ali Mohd Abdul Rahim (Berita Harian) and Lee Chan Wai (Sin Chew Daily).
