KOTA KINABALU: A kidnapper, who thought his victim was “safely” tied up in a forested ravine at a village near here, walked into the arms of the police when he moved in to “pick up RM100,000” ransom for the release of his hostage.

A police team led by Penampang district crime officer Chief Insp Razak Mohamad arrested the 27-year-old local suspect at a petrol kiosk where the ransom was supposed to be pick up in Donggongon town here at about 7pm yesterday nearly 24 hours after his hostage freed himself and informed the police.
