IPOH: Hundreds of city folk thronged the Ipoh Starwalk 2004 counters at three public venues to beat the registration deadline today, bringing the number to have signed up to over 3,600.Â
To make it easier for participants to register during the weekend, counters were set up at the Ipoh Parade Shopping Complex and Super Kinta Departmental Store.Â
Entries were also received at the Polo Ground of the Sultan Abdul Aziz Recreational Park, where a walking clinic for participants was held yesterday.Â

About 80 people who attended the clinic organised by the Perak Race Walking Association were shown how to walk at maximum speed with minimum effort.Â
Starwalk, which will be flagged off by Raja Muda of Perak Raja Nazrin Shah, is organised in conjunction with Sultan of Perak Sultan Azlan Shahs 76th birthday celebrations on April 25. Â
Participants stand to win over RM50,000 worth of prizes in a lucky draw, including three Suzuki Smash motorcycles, four Solarela solar water heaters, Pensonic electrical products, a Super Kinta giant hamper and DiGi mobile phones.Â
The walk is organised by The Star and endorsed by the Perak government and Ipoh City Council, with Suzuki, DiGi, Pensonic, 100 Plus, Spritzer, Sloans, Pallas, Solarela, MIX FM and MY FM as the main sponsors.Â
