Debaters sweep into semis of competition

JOHOR BARU: The five contestants who made it through to the semi-finals for the southern region preliminary round of the English Speaking Union Malaysia (ESUM) Public Speaking Competition 2004 have one thing in common – they are all school debaters.  

The preliminary round, which was held at Informatics Institute yesterday, started off with 11 contestants but after two rounds, judges decided on the five for the semi-finals.
