JOHOR BARU: The Sultan of Johor has reminded Mentri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman and the newly-appointed state exco members, who took their oath of office at Istana Besar here, to discharge their responsibilities in a trustworthy and responsible manner.
“I call upon the co-operation of the mentri besar, who leads the exco members, to discharge this responsibility.
“Do not disappoint me,” said the Sultan at the swearing-in of the mentri besar and the exco members.
Also present were the Tunku Mahkota of Johor Tunku Ibrahim Ismail and Tunku Bendahara Johor Tunku Abdul Majid Idris.
Speaking to reporters later, Abdul Ghani said he was confident that all the exco members had the capability to discharge their responsibilities well.
He urged the elected representatives and exco members to adopt a people-friendly approach and meet the people to discuss whatever problems they had and find solutions to the problems.
The state exco line-up has four old faces and six new ones.
The four old faces are Ahmad Zahri Jamil, the Sri Medan assemblyman (Agriculture and Agro-based Industry, Rural and Regional Development and Arts, Culture and Heritage), Datuk Halimah Sadique (Pasir Raja – Local Government and Health), Samat Aripin (Jorak – Entrepreneur and Co-operative Development) and Datuk K.S. Balakrishnan (Permas – Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs).
The six new faces are Dr Robia Kosai (Sungai Balang – Women and Family Development, and Community Development), Zainal Abidin Osman (Endau – Religion, Education, Higher Learning, Human Resources, Science, Technology and Innovation), Freedie Loong (Stulang –Tourism and Environment), Tan Kok Hong (Bekok – International Trade and Industry, Energy and Communications), Datuk Baderi Dasuki (Panti – Works and Housing) and Aziz Kaprawi (Parit Raja – Youth and Sports). – Bernama
