IPOH: Eight-month-old Mok Yuen Ting, who is suffering from a congenital heart disease, is in need of at least RM12,000 to undergo surgery at the Institute Jantung Negara (IJN).
Her father Mok Chee Wai, 36, a construction worker, said the family could not afford the cost as he had used up his savings for the child's treatment earlier.
She suffers from breathing difficulties and is on medication to protect her lungs from infection, Mok said at a press conference at the Perak MCA headquarters here yesterday.
Mok, who is the sole breadwinner in the family, said an IJN specialist had recommended surgery for Yuen Ting, as the chances of recovery would be high. However, Im facing financial difficulty and at times have to depend on relatives for support, said Mok, who has three other children aged between three and 11.
