SIBU: A 63-year-old woman and her 56-year-old brother were killed in an accident in Jalan Lanang here as they accompanied two other brothers to hospital on Sunday.

The two other brothers, who were injured in an earlier accident in Sungai Assan, were being taken to hospital in two ambulances when one of the vehicles and a bus collided at about 2.15pm.

The 63-year-old woman, Rumanda Ikom, and her brother, Panggau, 56, died in the ambulance.

Rumanda’s other brother, an unidentified medical assistant and two trainee nurses, Doris Pujok and Winnie Taha, both 24, were injured after being flung out of the vehicle.

Rumanda had earlier returned from Kuching to attend the funeral of a relative at Rumah Along.

Police have detained the bus driver for questioning.
