MIRI: The police will shorten the training period for new recruits from the current nine months to six months so that more trained personnel can be deployed quickly to handle ground duties.
Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Bakri Omar said police contingents at the district levels in the country were facing varying degrees of manpower shortage and by shortening the training period, more personnel could be dispatched to overcome the problem.
