KUALA LUMPUR: Producer and actress Julie Dahlan was fined a total of RM800 for driving a car without a valid road tax and a third-party insurance policy and for displaying a motorcycle’s registration number on her vehicle.
Julie, whose real name is Junaidah Dahlan, 51, pleaded guilty to the three charges yesterday.
Pleading for leniency, Julie said the road tax and the insurance policy expired on the same day when she was issued the summons.
“I did not have time because of my filming then. I really forgot about it,” Julie told the court.
On the wrong vehicle registration plate number, Julie said it belonged to her brother, adding that he was not using the number so she used it during her filming.
“I am sorry. I will not repeat this anymore,” she added.
Julie was charged with driving a car without a valid motor vehicle licence and without a third-party insurance policy at Jalan Ampang at about 1.25am on Dec 17, 1998.
She was also charged with driving the car with the motorcycle registration number at the same time and place.
Magistrate Mohd Khairi Haron fined Julie RM200 for the first charge, RM100 for the second and RM500 for the third.
Julie paid the fines.
