PETALING JAYA: The Kuala Lumpur Declaration to be adopted at the 7th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP-7), to be held here from next week, will focus on member countries’ pledges to carry out measures to preserve each nation’s biodiversity.

Science, Technology and Environment Ministry’s Conservation and Environmental Management Division deputy director Goh Siok Eng said the meeting was the next most important one after major summits such as the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) in 2002.
