PENANG: Malaysia is not taking any chances against the bird flu virus. The Agriculture Ministry has decided to ban all forms of livestock and seafood products from Thailand to prevent an outbreak of the avian influenza here.
Deputy Agriculture Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shariff Omar, who just returned from a meeting in Bangkok to discuss the flu outbreak, said Malaysia was not taking chances as the flu had rampaged across Asia, killing at least eight people in Vietnam and Thailand and destroying millions of fowl.
