KOTA KINABALU: The state Immigration Department plans to carry out a year-long crackdown on plantations as it suspects at least 40,000 of the foreign workers are without valid work permits.
Its enforcement chief Syed Shukor Syed Ahmad said they planned to carry out some 750 raids on plantations statewide under the operations codenamed Ops Hijau this year.
