TAIPING: The absence of natural disasters is a plus factor in promoting economic growth, said International Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Kerk Choo Ting.

Kerk, who is also Gerakan deputy president, said the country was positioned to gain from an era of economic resurgence felt throughout East Asia.

“These factors are further strengthened by the harmony brought about by the smooth transition of leadership,” he said at a lantern-lighting ceremony at Pokok Assam town here on Sunday night.
