JOHOR BARU: Chicken farmers here are unlikely to see an increase in demand from Singapore although the republic has decided to temporarily ban import of the bird from Thailand due to fowl cholera.
Johor Livestock and Poultry Farmers Association deputy chairman Lim Kah Cheng said this was because the types of chicken exported to Singapore from Malaysia and Thailand were different. While Malaysia exported live birds to the island, consignments from Thailand would comprise frozen whole birds, offal and processed parts.
