KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said he will push for a closer and deeper relationship with China – not just out of personal reasons arising from his late father’s role in establishing diplomatic ties with that country 30 years ago – but also in line with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s foreign policy.

The Deputy Prime Minister said China-Malaysia ties were significant to him because it was his father, Tun Abdul Razak Hussein, who initiated diplomatic relations with China in 1974 when he was the country’s second prime minister.
