KUALA LUMPUR: Hong Kong superstars Alan Tam and Hacken Lee gave a professional and yet moving performance before a 20,000-strong audience at their New Year Countdown Concert Live in Merdeka Stadium here last night.

The two put aside their grief for their close friend, Anita Mui, who died of cervical cancer on Tuesday.

During the three-hour concert, the two appeared in dazzling costumes and belted out each other's hit songs.

In a message before the concert began, they paid tribute to Mui hoping everyone present would put their grief as well and let their happiness send Mui on her final journey.

Tam will rush back to Hong Kong today to attend Mui’s funeral.
