KUALA LUMPUR: A group of businessmen and professionals have formed the country’s first-ever umbrella body to unify all Indian-based non-governmental organisations and to initiate programmes to ensure that the community will not be left out when Malaysia attains developed status in 2020.

The registration of the umbrella body on Dec 16, under the name – Federation of Indian Non-Governmental Organisations Malaysia (Fingo) – comes amidst bickering and lawsuits between the MIC and IPF leaders, the two Indian-based political parties over the alleged dismal performance of Maika Holdings (MIC’s investment arm).
