Set up court to determine syariah-civil jurisdiction issue, say lawyers

PENANG: The Penang Bar Syariah Committee has asked the Government to look into the possibility of establishing a court of jurisdiction to determine the issue of jurisdiction between the syariah (Islamic) and civil law. 

Committee chairman Habib Rahman said the system of justice was divided into the syariah and civil systems with both systems having their distinctive areas of jurisdiction.
