KUALA LUMPUR: With healthcare cost soaring by 900% over the past 20 years, new health technologies coming into Malaysia have to be reviewed stringently to protect the Government and the public, said Health Minister Datuk Chua Jui Meng.
He said advances in technology were becoming more expensive, citing the high cost of specialised drugs for cancer as well as equipment and devices that could cost RM10mil to RM15mil each.
