SERI KEMBANGAN: The inaugural Malaysian International Fashion Awards (Mifa) wrapped up its three-day run here last night with the Mifa Gala.  

Held at the Palace of the Golden Horses, the gala was attended by Women and Family Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil. 

Held to discover and groom new talent, the awards show principally sponsored by Mercedez-Benz also showcased the works of 24 new designers.  

Among the awards given out were Best Bridal Wear Award (won by Yeo Pheng Loong from Carven Academy of Fashion), Best Traditionally-Inspired Wear (Scott Chu from Carven Academy of Fashion), Best Casual Denim Wear (Mohd Jasni Mohd Rejab from Lim Kok Wing), Best Evening Gown (Michelle Yap from La Salle), Best Avant Garde Designer Award (Scott Chu), Most Promising Designer of the Year (Scott Chu), Most Dynamic Designer of the Year (Melinda Looi) and Designer of the Year (Bernard Chandran).

There were also special awards such as Male Model of the Year which was won by Eric Soon and the Female Model of the Year which was won by Azura.
