KUCHING: About 70% of Sarawak’s 2.1 million population now have access to treated water supply, said Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr George Chan Hong Nam.
He said it might not be feasible to supply treated water to isolated settlements in the interior which were either only accessible by river or too remote to be connected to the nearest water supply system. For these settlements, he said, water collected from rainwater harvesting tanks or groundwater wells would be made available to them.
