10,000 lamps to light up Kuching for open house

KUCHING: Some 10,000 kerosene lamps in the Satok business district and Malay kampungs are expected to be lit as the city prepares for its grandest Hari Raya national open house at Padang Merdeka tomorrow night.  

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail, Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Fauziah Tengku Abdul Rashid, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, the Sultan of Brunei, Sarawak Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Abang Muhammad Salahuddin and federal and state ministers will be among those present at the function.
