JOHOR BARU: A factory worker was killed in a hit-and-run accident after a trailer crashed into his motorcycle at Km20of the Jalan Pasir Gudang Highway-Johor Baru at Taman Daya here yesterday.
Johor Baru Traffic Police chief Deputy Supt Abdul Halim Abdullah identified the motorcyclist as Kamaruddin Anuar Batcha, 25, from Jalan Kumbia 6, Taman Puteri Wangsa, Ulu Tiram here.
The victim died on the spot, he said, adding that Kamaruddin was attached to a hardware factory in Puteri Wangsa.
He said the trailer driver fled after the incident.

KUANTAN: The National Unity and Social Development Ministry introduced the children action plan two years ago but child-friendly elements are still missing in institutions, said its minister Datuk Seri Dr Siti Zaharah Sulaiman.
She said it was essential for institutions such as schools and childcare centres to incorporate a setting which would promote healthy growth.
The ministry feels that many of the schools and childcare centres lack these elements and further improvements can be made by referring to the guidelines in the plan, she told reporters at a Hari Raya open house at Permatang Badak here yesterday.
KUALA LUMPUR: Government pensioners will receive their pension payments early this month in view of Christmas, the Public Services Department said.
Pensioners, with warrants dated Dec 16 to Dec 31, can cash their warrants from Dec 15, it said in a statement yesterday.
Pensioners who are paid through the bank can withdraw their money on Dec 15, it added. Bernama
