KUALA LUMPUR: MCA and Gerakan will jointly organise a Chinese New Year open house in Penang as a symbol of future co-operation between the two Barisan Nasional component parties.
Penang Gerakan chief and national vice-president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon said the state-level celebrations will be held on Jan 23, the second day of the Chinese New Year, at the Penang International Sports Arena.
“I’ve informed Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and MCA about the matter.
“We should let go of whatever problems we have in the past to foster closer co-operation between both parties,” he said after attending Abdullah’s Hari Raya open house here yesterday.
MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting welcomed the move, saying it was a timely one to show that the two parties were co-operating well in Penang.
