KUALA LUMPUR: Cameron Highlands, one of the country’s most popular hill resorts and crucial catchment areas, will receive a boost from a feasibility study being conducted by the Japan External Trade Organisation (Jetro) on controlling soil erosion and river sedimentation as well as improving hydropower generation.
Mitsuhiko Shigekura, the co-ordinator of the feasibility project and a director of Jetro, said in a statement here that rapid progress and development at Cameron Highlands had given rise to land surface erosion and sedimentation in rivers.
