Rice wholesaler sues TV station for defamation

KOTA BARU: A rice wholesaler filed a defamation suit against ntv7 in the High Court here, claiming RM24mil in damages for making false, confusing, prejudicial and slanderous statements against him in an investigative programme aired by the private television station in August. 

Hawa Ahmad, 62, of Syarikat Hawa Anak Beranak, Jalan Lemal in Pasir Mas, named moderator of Rancangan Edisi Siasat Wan Kamaruddin Wan Ibrahim as the first defendant, journalist Sarinah Salleh (second defendant), assistant producers Ahmad Zanuki Din and Nor Imran Abu Bakar (third and fourth defendants) and ntv7 (fifth defendant).
