KUALA LUMPUR: The band of pirates who abducted five workers from the Borneo Paradise Resort near Kunak in the Sabah east coast are now desperate and have reduced the ransom they are demanding, Chief of Defence Forces Jen Tan Sri Mohd Zahidi Zainuddin said.
They had originally set the ransom at US$50mil (RM190mil) but were now demanding US$5mil (RM19mil) from the Philippine Government for their release, Jen Mohd Zahidi said yesterday.
