NANYANG Siang Pau reported that the situation between Taiwan and mainland China was tense recently following Taiwan President Chen Shui-bian’s plan for laws to allow referendums to push Taiwan towards independence.
On Thursday, Chinese ambassador to the Philippines Wong Chun Kwai informed Philippines Foreign Minister Blas Ople the push for Taiwan’s independence could lead to war between the two sides.
